An angry mob set ablaze Skelewu Hotel, located in Umuguma Community, Owerri, Imo State.

Their anger seemed from the alleged stabbing of a man to death by a commercial sex worker in the hotel.

The commercial sex worker had allegedly killed the man during an argument over his refusal to pay after rounds of sex at the hotel.

Angered by the death of the customer, residents mobilized and set the hotel on fire.

The incident led to panic in the area, and caused traders to hurriedly close their shops. Motorists were also forced to take alternative routes as the fire raged.

Policemen attended the scene and cordoned off the hotel as firefighters worked to stop the inferno.

This is not the first time there has been a fire incident at Skelewu hotels. Back in August 2019, the hotel burnt down.
